The travellers will no longer need to pay thousands of dollars to quarantine at a hotel as they can go for home quarantine for a week. However, there is no mandatory quarantine period for some countries like New Zealand. For getting more and more people home, commercial flights will continue to function for fully vaccinated Australians.

Vaccination Criteria

For international travellers, the Chinese vaccine Sinovac and India’s Coviedshield are approved by the Government. With this recognition, international students will be getting a more open window to reach Australia.

Mr Morrison further said that his Government will provide additional support to other states if they follow imposing home quarantine. He also stated that to maximise the count of vaccinated Australians, facilitated flights will be provided for them into any state. Condition being, the seven-day home quarantine for returning Australians.

The Australian Government is collectively working with states for removing the travel restrictions for vaccinated travellers. However, the unvaccinated counterpart needs to go for hotel quarantine for fourteen days.

The Morrisson Government is looking to extend the smart traveller advice system to issue warning against travelling to countries majorly suffering from COVID. There will be rapid antigen testing as a part of the management apart from the covid-19 testing.

Considering the advisory of the Chief Medical Officer, ‘Do not travel’ advice will be given to vaccinated Australians travelling to countries struggling to recover from the pandemic. Before restarting commercial travel planned in Mid- December, some International Airlines had already proceeded with announcing flights to numerous locations. Countries where international travel will be restarted firstly will be the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States of America, Canada and Fiji.
