Western Australia Is Offering Huge Support To International Students

With the international border restriction lifted, the state is opening the gates for international students again.

Latest News: Australian Border Resume For Fully Vaccinated International Travellers From February 21

Under the $77 million Safe Transition Industry Support Package of the state, various support programs are now available, which include:

  • $6 million Industry Support Program for international education providers
  • $2 million University Services for Student Support Program
  • $8 million Student Quarantine Support Program

Financial Support for International Candidates

The state’s financial support is available for international students arriving in Perth from 20 January 2022 and required to stay in quarantine. However, they must be currently enrolled at a WA institute. The allocated grant is $2000.

They have to provide their first and last names, email ids, where they are coming from, whether they have turned 18, and whether the government has contacted them for this specific purpose.

Support Payments for Universities

Universities also receive fund support from the Government of Western Australia. The amount is $500 for each international student who needs quarantine after arriving in the state.

Support to Small and Medium Private International Education Providers

The Government of Western Australia has designed a new $6 million support program for medium and small private international education providers that had made investments to reopen on 5 February.

Eligible small-sized providers will receive a grant of $50000. Small-sized providers refer to those working with a maximum of 19 employees. On the other hand, medium-sized providers with 20 to 199 employees will receive a $100000 grant.

By providing details like email id, first and last names of the primary contact person, the size of their business, and whether the government has contacted them for this specific purpose.
